Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation Receives Certification as a Woman-Owned Business
October 13, 2014Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation received certification as a woman-owned business by the National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC), the first certifier of Women Business Enterprises. The certification gives Nephron enhanced visibility and a new competitive edge.
“Nephron is excited for the recognition of being certified as a woman-owned business in October, the same month that salutes all things pink,” says Mrs. Lou Kennedy, CEO and owner, “This certification allows us to develop new business opportunities with our existing customer base, which allows us to offer more jobs to capable women.”
Nephron’s workforce is forty-four percent women, holding the majority of all advanced degrees at the company. Additionally, women hold key management roles in various departments throughout Nephron, such as, Quality Assurance, the Chemistry and Microbiology Labs, Regulatory Compliance, Corporate Treasury, R&D Engineering, and Product Development.
NWBOC, a national 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, was created in response to needs identified by the Procurement Special Interest Group of the Nation Association of Women Business Owners. NWBOC seeks to provide more corporations with the opportunity to better their procurement practices and women suppliers the opportunity to compete.
